Taking part in research

Patients and the Public

You can help us shape our research and our work in the CRF. We involve public and patients through our advisory group in designing, implementing, and disseminating our studies. You can sign up to be part of our patient and public involvement and engagement programme (PPIE).

Research opportunities at Moorfields (ROAM)

We have design and developed a digital platform where you can express an interest in taking part in research projects at Moorfields. Our clinicians will use the information gathered to identify people who are suitable to take part in the wide range of studies that we lead. For those new to Moorfields and who would like to take part, you will need to be referred by your GP first to be considered for potential participation in research projects.

How we can help you with your research

Our Research

Studies that are conducted include early phase trials (Phase IIa or earlier); experimental medicine studies that require specialised facilities/staff/equipment or high-intensity or high-complexity elements only of later-phase studies. Other experimental medicine studies that may be eligible include testing and validating biomarkers and devices, if you are unsure of whether your study is eligible to use the CRF, please contact moorfields.crfenquiries@nhs.net.

How to Apply

All researchers from Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology can apply to run their studies in the CRF if the studies meet the eligibility criteria for early phase or experimental medicine studies. The Moorfields CRF may also be accessible to studies sponsored by external researchers and industry as long as a Principal Investigator from Moorfields Eye Hospital is identified to lead the study in the CRF.

Partnering and collaborating with industry.

Our CRF infrastructure is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). We have an extensive track record of supporting both academic and commercial studies in adults and children of all ages. If you would like more information, please contact our CRF Operations Manager, Ed White on moorfields.crfenquiries@nhs.net.
