Asif Bhatti joins Moorfields as non-executive director

Asif Bhatti has joined Moorfields Eye Hospital as a non-executive director. He is currently group director of risk and audit for Compass Group plc and chair of the board for Gloucester City Homes.

Asif commented “I am delighted to be joining the board of Moorfields Eye Hospital at such a pivotal time in its history. We have some ambitious projects in the pipeline and I feel privileged to be playing my part in supporting this world class pioneering hospital.  There are exciting times ahead of us as we continue to take Moorfields’ enviable eye care services, world-class research and education to the next level, as well as supporting the development of Oriel.”

His expertise in investment projects, audit and risk and transformation, coupled with his experience across industries and as a non-executive and chair will be invaluable to us, as will his passion for teambuilding.”

Asif is a highly respected finance expert having qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse. He has worked across a number of industries, gaining experience through his various senior finance roles at globally recognised organisations such as PolyGram and Universal Music & Film.  More recently, Asif has performed internal audit and risk leadership roles at The John Lewis Partnership, Whitbread plc and Trinity Mirror plc.

He replaces Sumita Singha, OBE, who made significant contributions towards Oriel, served on the people committee for nine years and helped champion the patient voice at board level.
