Attending your appointment during strike action - updated 30.12.2022

There are planned strikes across the rail network during the first week in January. Some bus services are also impacted.

Some of our elective services may be impacted. If we need to reschedule your appointment you will be contacted prior to your appointment date.

We will continue to offer the majority of services across all sites and specialties on the strike days, prioritising sight saving treatment and emergency care.

Please attend if you can

Please attend your appointment if you can. If you are unable to attend your appointment due to the travel disruption, please let us know as soon as possible.

We will contact you in the event we need to reschedule your appointment.

Our ability to provide services will depend on the severity of the impact of the strike and whether train services are fully restored after the strike days. Please follow us on Twitter @Moorfields, Facebook @MoorfieldsEyeHospital and Instagram @MoorfieldsNHS for updates on our services.

How you can help us to see more patients on strike days

Our teams will have the same difficulties in travelling in to offer appointments as you will, and you can help us to make sure we can see as many people as possible by:

  • Responding to the text we sent you to let us know whether you are intending attending your appointment. · Emailing us now at moorfields.outpatientbookingsbc@nhs.net or ringing the number on your appointment letter if you cannot attend, to rearrange your appointment. We can then offer this slot to other patients.
  • Allowing extra time for your journey next week so you can arrive on time.
  • Being patient with us if you have to wait longer than usual in a clinic or if our phone lines are busy.
