Moorfields appoints new Chief nurse

Moorfields is thrilled to announce that Sheila Adam has been appointed as its new Chief nurse and executive director of allied health professionals.

With a wealth of executive, leadership and research experience, Sheila joins Moorfields from NHS England and NHS Improvement where she is currently an intensive support improvement director. This is a role which delivers embedded improvement and executive leadership support to Trusts across the NHS.

Prior to her role at NHS England and NHS Improvement, Sheila was chief nurse and director of governance at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust from 2013 to 2018 and before this, deputy Chief nurse and acting chief nurse at University College London NHS Foundation Trust.

"I’m excited Sheila is joining us as I know the expertise and skillset she will bring with her will be important as we drive forwards strategic projects like Oriel," says Dr Martin Kuper, CEO of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

"I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Tracy for her enormous contribution and leadership to Moorfields over the past 13 years. She has worked tirelessly to champion her nursing team and allied health professionals and ensure our treatment and care is of the highest standards."

Tracy’s last day at Moorfields will be 31 December and there will be an opportunity before she leaves to thank her, pay tribute to her great many achievements and wish her well in her new role as chief nurse for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.

Sheila will be joining Moorfields in March 2022 and Sarah Needham, Deputy chief nurse, will be acting chief nurse and executive director of allied health professionals during the interim period.
