Other useful numbers and links

Our switchboard takes hundreds of calls every day, so it's usually quicker to dial the department you need directly. Some of the most frequently requested direct-dial numbers are listed below.

General enquiries

If you can't find a direct dial number for what you need, or have a general inquiry, please call the main switchboard on 020 7253 3411.  Your call will be answered by an automatic system which will ask you for the name or department you require.  If you don't know who you need, simply say 'operator' and you'll be put through to one of our switchboard staff who will be able to put you through to the right person or department.

Any medical queries should be discussed in the first instance with your GP or optician or via the NHS 111 service.

Changing or cancelling your appointment time

You can change or cancel your appointment at our City Road hospital by emailing us at moorfields.outpatientbookingsbc@nhs.net or calling our booking centre on 020 7566 2357. Please note that our phone lines are extremely busy so please do email us if possible, and remember to include your full name, patient/NHS number, DOB, postcode and the best number to contact you on.

Eye conditions or general eye health

If you have a question regarding an eye condition or you are worried about your eyes, we recommend that you contact your GP or ophthalmologist in the first instance.

If your eye problem is urgent or sight-threatening, you can visit our 24-hour specialist A&E department at our main City Road hospital without an appointment.

You can also contact Moorfields Direct, our nurse-led telephone helpline, on 020 7566 2345 for general information and advice about eye conditions and treatments. The helpline is open from 8.30am to 9pm, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm on Saturdays, and is staffed by experienced ophthalmic-trained nurses. At busy times, the nurses might not be able to answer your call straight away - please bear with us and call back a little later if this happens.

For further patient information on eye conditions and treatments you can visit the online medical resource website, Patienthere.

Our PALS team provides confidential advice and support to help you sort out any concerns you may have about the care we provide, guiding you through the different services available at Moorfields.  The PALS team can also advise you on how to make a complaint. You can contact the PALS team on 020 7566 2324/2325 or by email to moorfields.pals@nhs.net.
