Moorfields clinicians awarded Professor and Associate Professor titles

A group of Moorfields clinicians have been promoted to Professor and Associate Professor roles.

Mr Keith Barton, Dr Pearse Keane, Dr Omar Mahroo and Dr Carlos Pavesio have all been awarded the title of Professor by the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology in its 2020-21 round of promotions.

In the UCL Faculty of Brain Sciences, Mr Barton is now Professor of Ophthalmology, Dr Keane is Professor of Artificial Medical Intelligence, Dr Mahroo is Professor of Retinal Neuroscience and Dr Pavesio is Professor of Ocular Inflammation and Infection. 

Also in the UCL Faculty of Brain Sciences, Dr Konstantinos Balaskas has been made an Associate Professor and Ms Rashmi Mathew has been awarded Associate Professor (Teaching).

David Probert, chief executive at Moorfields Eye Hospital, said: “I am delighted my colleagues’ world-leading expertise has been recognised. I hope they are all proud of this prestigious promotion, I know we all are at Moorfields.”
