Moorfields Eye Charity has launched a brand new event, 'Eye to Eye', which will take place on Sunday 22nd March 2015. Walking from Moorfields Eye Hospital to the London Eye, participants can choose to take part in the four mile route along with chief executive, John Pelly, or the full 14 miles with Declan Flanagan, medical director. This mass participation, bespoke event is a first for the charity and aims to get as many patients, staff and supporters taking part as possible to raise awareness and sight-saving funds for the hospital.

Fundraisers can choose the area of research to benefit from the sponsorship they raise: glaucoma; age-related macular degeneration; diabetic retinopathy; retinal diseases; cornea and ocular surface diseases; children’s eye conditions; inherited eye disease/rare diseases; or wherever the need is greatest.

TV's Claudia Winkleman, Event Ambassador and Strictly Come Dancing presenter, also hopes to be able to take part and says "I am delighted to be supporting this exciting new event. I underwent laser surgery in 2010, after my vision really started to deteriorate. It was a frightening time but the operation was life-changing. I am so grateful to the fantastic staff at Moorfields, which is why I wanted to get involved. I hope you will too!"

How to register

Registration costs just £10 for the four mile route and when participants raise £75 they get a free charity t-shirt. The registration fee for the 14 mile route is £15 and fundraisers get a free charity t-shirt once £100 has been raised. There is no minimum sponsorship for this event but Moorfields Eye Charity would like to encourage walkers to raise as much as they can. Under 12s go free with every adult place on the shorter route.
