Now in its 7th year, the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon is a stunning spectacle on closed roads that takes in some of London's most famous landmarks including the London Eye, Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. This is the second year that Moorfields Eye Charity has had a team in the event, which takes place on Sunday 12 October and winds through four of the capital's eight Royal Parks.

How to register

Only four places are left for this year's event and registration closes on Friday 22 August at 4pm, so you must act quickly if you would like to sign up. Registration costs £40 and we ask that you raise a minimum sponsorship of £500. Runners will receive plenty of support from the charity's events team, along with fundraising tips and a branded running vest.

Steve and Danielle Bailey

Last year, Moorfields Eye Charity had 13 runners, including a father and daughter team, Steve and Danielle Bailey. At the age of 15, Danielle contracted a corneal abscess in her left eye which almost left her blind. Danielle and her father decided to fundraise as a thank you to the medical staff that helped her and in the hope that present and future patients will be able to receive the same excellent level of care. Danielle said: “The work and commitment of the staff at Moorfields saved my sight and seven years down the line, I have gained pretty much most of my sight back. This would have been impossible without Moorfields.”

If you like to sign up for the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon, please complete this registration form and return it to eyecharity@moorfields.nhs.uk
