Well done to Moorfields Eye Charity cyclists who took to the roads of London

On the 2 August, 68 riders took part in the annual 100-mile cycle event, Prudential RideLondon, to raise money for Moorfields Eye Hospital.

The riders had places with the hospitals' charity, Moorfields Eye Charity and will join 20,000 cyclists on a scenic adventure pedaling from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park all the way through the picturesque Surrey countryside and back to the Mall outside Buckingham Palace.

Consultant ophthalmologist Mr Keith Barton, who is participated for the third time this year said:  “It is a fantastic event but not for the faint-hearted. The most memorable part of the ride last year was cycling non-stop across London with thousands of other cyclists – no traffic lights, no buses, no traffic all the way from the Olympic Stadium along the embankment, through Trafalgar Square, past Harrods and the museums, and out into the country.”

Special mention also goes to the Fairy Queen Dream Team a strong team from Northumberland, led by James Chapple who cycled to raise money for research into Aniridia. James daughter Ella has the disorder.

A great big thank you to all our cyclists for taking part; your efforts are much appreciated.
