Academic health science centre

Moorfields is a founding member of UCLPartners, a leading academic health science centre that supports the healthcare system serving over six million people in parts of London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex. Together, its member organisations from higher education and the NHS form one of the world’s leading centres of medical discovery, healthcare innovation and education. Through UCLPartners, we are working together to improve health outcomes and create wealth for the local population at scale and pace.

Our director of research and development, Professor Sir Peng Tee Khaw, is the programme director for the eyes and vision theme of the UCLPartners, which aims to drive forward translational research programmes targeting the blinding diseases that pose the greatest burden to patients and society, and to increase our capacity and support for high-quality research programmes.
